Astrology Update: Taurus Season 2021

By Jayne Renault

It’s Taurus season, bbs! We’re here for making money, making love, and making a big deal of the beauty in little everyday things.

Roughly every 30 days, the sun visits each of the twelve zodiac signs. On April 19, it moves from big, passionate, and kinda hectic Aries into practical and pragmatic Taurus, where it’ll hang out until May 20.

Last month, wildfire Aries brought us a big spark of impulsivity, passion, and the frenzied excitement that comes along with fresh starts and new ideas. With the sun in Taurus, we’ll be invited to come back down to earth and just chill the f out for a minute.

Here we can find the space to languidly stretch out in an ethereal garden and digest everything that came up in Aries season -- preferably with fine foods, a nice wine close at hand. This will give us the room we need to evaluate with a calmer, more practical eye and make the plans needed to bring our dreams to fruition.

Taurus is represented by the Bull -- which is why the beautifully two-horned Dea has the biggest Taurus energy in town. And they can stand just as firmly in their stance as their symbolic animal. They are resolute in their loyalty, confident in their knowledge and beliefs, and like to do things their way because they know from experience that their practical systems work. Unchecked, this adamant Taurean confidence has the potential to turn us into a bull in a china shop. But if we go into conversations and collaborations mindfully and with an openness to other perspectives, we can tap into stability and strength this season has to offer in abundance.

With Taurus being ruled by Venus -- the planet of love, beauty, money, and pleasure -- it’s no wonder that this sign is sensual af. It’s all about creature comforts and material beauty, but materialism doesn’t have to take on a negative connotation here. We’re talking about getting back in touch with our senses and sensuality, and indulging in the beauty of everyday luxuries.

On April 14, Venus also moved into Taurus and will be there until May 8. This transit will enhance all the good Taurus season vibes, especially where intimacy and pleasure are concerned. Venus in Taurus prompts us to put ourselves first, indulge in self-care, and lean into our sensuality. The next couple of weeks are a prime time for romance, with ourselves as much as with others.

It’s pretty fitting that #MasturbationMay kicks off halfway through all of this. If ever there was a time to luxuriate and indulge in self-love… This season is rife with the reminder that we can not only find pleasure in the simple things, but that they are always there for us if only we stop long enough to really appreciate them. And it’s more than okay to treat yourself once in a while.

Here are 4 tips to harness the celestial bull and bring balance to your Taurus season:

1. Slow down

The earthy energy of this season is super grounding. As a fixed earth sign, Taurus encourages us to slow right down. But slowing down does not mean getting lazy. Taurus is determined and focused, aiming for a work hard, chill hard balance.

This is a deliberate steadying to find a consciously controlled pace. Now’s the time to break things down and look at every detail, to make manageable plans that will set us up for success for the rest of the year and beyond. Figure out where it makes the most sense to direct your efforts in order to realize the highest potential of your dreams, big and small.

Do you have a prosperity plan? If not, now’s the perfect time to get on that! What do I need to feel emotionally and financially secure? Writing that down will help identify what you need to do to achieve that stability you deserve.

2. Speak up

Taurus rules over the neck and throat. Add some neck stretches or yoga poses like cat-cow, plow pose, fish pose to your routine to help open that area up and keep the energy moving freely.

This also includes your voice and the power that comes with that. Pick up a fancy new journal and let the words flow. Sing out loud to your favourite tunes. Scream into a pillow or from inside your car. Whatever you’ve got to do to move that vocal energy around and attune to it is sure to enhance that power.

Some journal prompts for this season:

Make a list of 10 things you love about yourself. Now say them out loud, one by one.

What do I need to feel more grounded and secure- in my career goals? in my relationships? in my relationship with my body?

What is the one thing I want to accomplish this season?

What can I do to bring more joy and pleasure into my life?

3. Get outside

Taurus teaches patience by reminding us to slow right down and as a big-time earth sign, they love to do that by reconnecting with nature. Taurus literally wants us to literally stop and smell the flowers, or the misty petrichor of those spring showers. Get outdoors, take some big deep breaths, and let the spirit of the season ground you.

4. Treat yourself and keep it sensual

Will Smith may be a Libra, but it’s Taurus who practically wrote the book on maxin and relaxin. Make this season about making time to soak in the goodness of little, everyday luxuries. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

a. deck yourself out with our finest adornments

b. put on the lingerie just to drink in your fine ass self in the mirror

c. take a bath with fragrant oils

d. turn on your sexiest playlist and dance along with abandon: check out Bellesa's Spring 2021 Playlist here

e. buy yourself some flowers

f. take a nap in the middle of the day

g. prepare a fancy dinner for yourself and/or your loved ones -- COVID bubbles and gathering restrictions permitting, of course.

If nothing else, go charge up your vibrators and make some serious love to yourself.
